‘The Gabriëlskloof Landscape Series was created from a desire to incorporate the best of Gabrielskloof vineyards with some of South Africa’s old vine treasures. It celebrates provenance, together with an appreciation for the arresting hills and dales of the majestic Overberg.’
Each wine within the series has a commissioned illustration creating the mood and scene by artist Niel Jonker. We designed a concise and clean label for the series by reducing the illustrations in size and creating a frame around them for the front label. This allowed the wine name, vintage and varietal to form a limited edition art style reference with the farm being the artist/author of the wines. The back label worked with a grid to create a more symmetric approach whilst telling the story and detailing the required information.
Due to the illustrative style of the label in both art and layout and the use of a textured, cotton-based paper - minimal production techniques were added to maintain the beauty of the mood created by each artwork.
