Villiersdorp lies at the heart of the newly established Theewaterskloof wine ward in the Overberg region. It is home to the now named Villiersdorp Winery, a quality driven production cellar with a long and unique history.
When we met with the then Villiersdorp Cellar Board we were immediately taken by the enthusiasm and openness to change. They wanted to rebrand and rejuvenate their business whilst being proud of their history and how far they have come - established in 1922.
Villiersdorp Winery is privately owned and their stakeholders are committed to production processes that are inclusive and beneficial to all personnel, clients and growers. This message was required to translate through all their brands.
The Villiersdorp Winery Range expresses the boldness with which the winery embraces change, whilst still honouring tradition. Less laissez-faire than Slow Wine but more accessible than the premium Heritage Range, the Villiersdorp Winery Range is confident and dependable without pretensions which is shown through the label designs. We created strong clear spatial lines adding romance with the handwritten tasting notes of the individual varietals. The textured paper with the deboss on various elements lends itself to the industrial nature of the Winery itself, therefore adding another perspective.
